Today, in Social Sciences class, with my second grade students, we have reflected on the groups to which we belong... We already belong to some of them when we are born. We join others...

Fold the paper

I share a very easy activity...
Students fold a paper in half. One of them draws a body and gives the paper to the partner to draw the head (without seeing the body). The results are very funny and generate a lot of expectation in children.

A playful approach....

This morning, some student of our school took part in a Scavenger Hunt (RASTRE-ARTE
around our nieghborhoud to know the Urban Gallery. Wonderful experience.

One story, different endings

The students of the third grade were given a creative task. In pairs they were supposed to create their own story which begun with the given words: "One sunny day little Chris found a piece of paper with a ribbon. There was a castle and a map leading to it on the paper. The route to the castle went through different countries, each one was different, each one was beautiful..."
Children finished the story and took their little helper on the tip with them - Ozobot, a robot which they use during lessons. Everyone finished the task.

Here are some pictures:

Sorting and Using Materials (III)

Today, the third lesson on the topic...
First, we have made predictions about which material would let more water through

These are our predictions.

Finally, we did the VIRTUAL EXPERIMENT, and our predictions were not very accurate. Our only correct prediction was plastic: it does not let any drop through.

In the graphic you can see the comparison between our predictions an the results of the experiment.
What I like most, as a teacher, about this resource, is how easy it is to talk about these topics using the English language in a "real context" and making it possible to use language to speak about difficult content in a significant way.

Using and Sorting Materials (II)

This is the second lesson on the topic... (LESSON 1)

Students produced some beautiful sentences, i.e.:

"A kite is made of plastic because it is light."

This is me!

Here I leave some drawings of myself, by my second grade students.
That's how they see me...
